Our History
Big Sky Land Management, previously known as Big Sky Fire Prevention, started in 2005 to provide a much-needed service to private landowners in Big Sky. We started with a small crew working mostly on private property removing beetle kill trees in order to reduce the chance of wildfires. Today, Big Sky Land Management employees 20+ people and specializes in excavation, forestry and snow removal services.
The founding owner, Justin Miller, grew up in Yellowstone National Park and learned from professionals and experts on both sides of the park boundary about proper land management techniques. Justin saw a need for better land management in Big Sky. He expanded his skills to provide property owners and developers with more efficient ways to manage their land through forestry and excavation services.
In 2014, Justin and his wife, Danielle Miller, made a strategic decision for her to join him full-time in managing the business. Her skill set has helped Big Sky Land Management better manage projects, employees and ultimately expand the productive of the business.
